Debut Album Hexadecimal to be Released 10/13/17 via Awfully Good Records
LOS ANGELES, CA | SEPTEMBER 6, 2017: Detroit-born and California-based indie rock trio Filmspeed is thrilled to announce their signing to Awfully Good Records today. With the announcement, the band dropped their debut single, “I Feel Alright,” along with details for their forthcoming album, Hexadecimal, which is set for release on October 13, 2017. The 11-track collection includes elements from genres such as new wave, hard rock, grunge, and pop rock. By incorporating these different elements and infusing their songs with heart, soul, and a deep down desire to move not only the listener, but themselves, Filmspeed uses their music as therapy. Frontman Craig Broomba shares,
“We want to be a voice out there for someone who’s having trouble making sense of their own words and invite them to scream out loud with us whether it’s right in front of us live or in their car blowing out the speakers.”
The album’s debut track, “I Feel Alright,” premiered exclusively with Substream Magazine today. “I Feel Alright” is an uplifting, energetic song about not letting problems get you down. Vocalist Craig Broomba explains:
“For years now, I’ve maintained a few personal twists on a cliched statement. ‘When life hands you lemons, squirt the juice in the eyes of your enemies.  If you find yourself without enemies…it’s Martini time.’ Whether it’s fueled by powerful intoxication or pure spite of the universe, this song is about keeping it cool while it’s all burning down.”
Two parts Motown, one part Tinseltown, all parts moving. This is how Detroit power trio Filmspeed describe their intricate sound. Comprised of Craig Broomba (vocals, guitars), Nick Stout (bass, guitar, backup vocals), and Oliver Dobrian (drums, backup vocals), Filmspeed combines blood pumping anthems, melodic hooks, and soulful grooves to create a sound that is uniquely their own. What originally started under a different name in 2004 has evolved into what Filmspeed is today, a band dedicated to the stage life, thriving on the live music experience. The name stems on a reflection of memories and past events that tell a story from your point of view. The band explains, “[memories] always comes in bits and pieces like chopped up scenes from a movie about yourself. As more crazy things happen in this life, the more you’re living at the speed of a film; Filmspeed.”
Head to Substream Magazine today to listen to Filmspeed’s debut track, “I Feel Alright.” Filmspeed’s new album Hexadecimal will be available October 13, 2017. To stay up to date, be sure to follow the band on Facebook.
