PromoWest Productions and Miller Lite Presents The Struts
WHEN: November 3, 2017
WHERE: EXPRESS LIVE! – COLUMBUS, OHIO
DOORS: 7:30pm
COST: $25.00 Advance/$25.00 Day of Show
ON-SALE: September 15
BIO:
Before even releasing their first album, U.K.-bred four-piece The Struts opened for The Rolling Stones in front of a crowd of 80,000 in Paris, got hand-picked by Mötley Crüe to serve as the supporting act for their four last-ever performances, and toured the U.S. on a string of sold-out shows that demanded the band move up to bigger venues to accommodate their fast-growing fanbase. Now with their full-length debut Everybody Wants, lead vocalist Luke Spiller, guitarist Adam Slack, bassist Jed Elliott, and drummer Gethin Davies reveal the supreme mix of massive riffs and powerfully catchy melodies that’s already slain so many adoring audiences around the globe. The follow-up to Have You Heard—a 2015 EP whose lead single “Could Have Been Me” hit #1 on Spotify’s viral chart, earned more than 2.5 million Vevo/YouTube views, and shot to the top 5 on Modern Rock radio charts—Everybody Wants unleashes anthem after arena-ready anthem. The Struts prove the iconic power that’s prompted Yahoo Music to name them “one of the most exciting and electric performers in rock today” and MTV to proclaim the band “well on their way to bringing rock & roll back to the forefront.”

At the core of Everybody Wants are power-chord-driven tracks like the hard-charging album-opener “Roll Up”  and the gritty-yet-exhilarating “Kiss This”. With its hip-shaking rhythms and euphoric harmonies, “Times Are Changin’” recaps the band’s recent glories. Largely on the strength of their dynamic live performance, the Struts fast built up a major following and started selling out shows all across Europe. Over the past few years Spiller’s role as a style idol has prevailed, with the New York Times recently spotlighting the singer in a fashion-centric feature and Ray Brown coming up with costumes for The Struts’ run of dates with Mötley Crüe.

In their lavish stage presence and magnetic appeal, The Struts have more than demonstrated a preternatural command of monumental crowds. But while all that glitz and flash never fail to thrill, the band’s impassioned music and high-powered spirit also fulfill a far greater purpose. “The main mission of the band is to bring back that feeling of fun and rock & roll, especially to all those people who are bored by what’s going on these days.

PromoWest Productions and Miller Lite Presents Clutch w/ Devin Townsend Project, The Obsessed, and Mike Wescott Band
WHEN: December 31, 2017
WHERE: EXPRESS LIVE! – COLUMBUS, OHIO
DOORS: 6:30pm
COST: $29.50 Advance/$35.00 Day of Show
ON-SALE: September 15
BIO:
Clutch combined elements of funk, Led Zeppelin, and metal with vocals inspired by Faith No More. Formed in 1991 in Germantown, Maryland, the group included Neil Fallon (vocals), Tim Sult (guitar), Dan Maines (bass), and Jean-Paul Gaster (drums). They built a local following through constant gigging, and after just one 7″ single (the classic Earache release “Passive Restraints”) Clutch were signed by EastWest Records. Their debut LP, Transnational Speedway League, followed in 1993. A self-titled album appeared two years later and afforded Clutch some mainstream exposure. Pure Rock Furyappeared in 2001, and the similarly uncompromising Blast Tyrant came three years later as their first for DRT Records. Their seventh full-length, Robot Hive/Exodus, followed in 2005 and featured the first lineup change since the early ’90s, the addition of organist Mick Schauer.

Clutch’s numerous side releases included a groove-based album as well as Live at the Googolplex and the rarities record Slow Hole to China, both issued in 2003. Also issued in 2005, Pitchfork & Lost Needles combined Clutch’s 1991 Pitchfork 7″ with unreleased demos and early tracks. In the fall of 2006 the band hit the studio with producer Joe Barresi (Kyuss, Melvins) to record its next album; the resulting From Beale Street to Oblivion appeared in March 2007. In 2008 Clutch released a CD/DVD compilation of live tracks from shows in New Jersey, Pittsburgh, and Sydney titled Full Fathom Five: Audio Field Recordings 2007-2008 on their own label, Weathermaker Music. The band followed up in 2009 with Strange Cousins from the West before delivering its tenth album, Earth Rocker, in 2013. Buoyed by the success of that album (their highest-charting release ever) and eponymous lead single, Clutch continued their relentless touring through late 2015, when they released their 11th album, Psychic Warfare.

PromoWest Productions and Coors Light Presents Matisyahu w/ Common Kings
WHEN: December 7, 2017
WHERE: Newport Music Hall – COLUMBUS, OHIO
DOORS: 7:00pm
COST: $25.00 Advance/$27.00 Day of Show
ON-SALE: September 15
BIO:
Matisyahu was born Matthew Miller on June 30, 1979, in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He returned to New York at 19 to attend the New School for Social Research in Manhattan, but also joined the Carlebach Shul, a synagogue where his musical interests were encouraged. Meeting a Lubavitch rabbi, he became interested in the strict Lubavitch Hasidic sect of Judaism and renamed himself Matisyahu. Continuing to perform, Matisyahu assembled a backing band consisting of guitarist Aaron Dugan, bassist Josh Werner, and drummer Jonah David. The group recorded Shake Off the Dust…Arise, which was released by JDub Records in 2004. While touring in support of the album, Matisyahu recorded one of his February 2005 concerts and released the material as Live at Stubb’s, which was issued in April courtesy of Or Music before getting picked up for national distribution by Epic Records. Epic reissued it on August 23, 2005, as Matisyahu toured around the country and prepared a second studio album with producer Bill Laswell. The final product, Youth, appeared in March 2006 and was nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Reggae Album. A simultaneously released dub version of the album was made available to mail-order customers.

Live at Stubb’s, Vol. 2 appeared, this time with a companion DVD release. In late 2011, the singer posted a picture with a shaved head and payes cut with the caption, “No more Chassidic reggae superstar.” As such, his 2012 effort Spark Seeker was more secular pop, and was produced by Kool Kojak, who had previously worked with Kesha and Nicki Minaj. In 2014, Matisyahu released his fifth LP, Akeda. The tracks had been written while on tour and then recorded at Studio G with producer Stu Brooks. After a tour that included a stop in Jerusalem, Matisyahu returned to the studio for Release the Bound, a digital EP released in 2016. The collection included collaborations with Stu Brooks, the Polish Ambassador, and Salt Cathedral. In 2017, he issued the singles “Step Out Into the Light” and “Back to the Old.”

PromoWest Productions, Coors Light, and CD102.5 Presents Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
WHEN: February 9, 2017
WHERE: Newport Music Hall – COLUMBUS, OHIO
DOORS: 7:00pm
COST:  $23.00 Advance/$25.00 Day of Show
ON-SALE: September 15
BIO:
The widely acclaimed California-based band consists of Peter Hayes (vocal, guitar, harmonica), Robert Levon Been (vocal, bass, guitar), and Leah Shapiro (drums). They’ve been crafting perfectly honed, bluesy, psychedelic garage-rock since 1998 and return with their 7th studio album. These rock and roll stalwarts have been praised by NPR for their “gutsy rock ‘n’ roll” while Rolling Stone has called their sound “expansive” and Entertainment Weekly has called it “deeply hypnotic narco-blues.”

Wrong Creatures was produced by Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Arcade Fire) and recorded in Los Angeles. Wrong Creatures takes a journey throughout rock’s history, taking unlikely twists and turns, both peppered with historic influences but also having one foot firmly in the present. Yet their focus still firmly set on returning to edge of the stage, never resting on their laurels and bringing people further into their live experience. Wrong Creatures returns to the core of BRMC’s alchemy, yet plunges the knife in even further. From the Cave-esque murder balladry of “Haunt” to the garage punk of “Little Thing Gone Wild,” it runs the gamut allowing the band to flex every muscle in their armor. They remain opaque about the songs’ greater meanings, fearful of past misunderstandings. Ultimately, the band are survivors during an era where rock’n’roll can often be overshadowed by garish pop and domineering hip-hop. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have learned how to cut out all the noise and concentrate on what matters.

PromoWest Productions and Miller Lite Presents Sponge: Performing Rotting Pinata In It’s Entirety

WHERE:  A&R Music Bar – Columbus, Ohio
DOORS: 7:00pm
COST: $18.00 Advance/$20.00 Day of Show
ON-SALE: September 15
BIO:
Sponge has proven to be one of the Motor City’s heaviest hitters after gaining international notoriety with their debut album Rotting Piñata (Sony). Emerging from Detroit with hits like “Plowed” and “Molly (16 Candles)” Sponge received massive airplay on radio stations from coast to coast and were in heavy rotation on MTV. Both “Plowed” and “Molly” hit #5 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Charts, catapulting Rotting Piñata to Gold, and ultimately Platinum status. Sponge’s follow up CD, the critically lauded Wax Ecstatic (Columbia) scored additional top ten Billboard hits. Sponge’s subsequent releases “New Pop Sunday,” “For All The Drugs in The World,” “The Man,” “Galore Galore,” and “Destroy the Boy,” showcased the band’s swirling sonic attack, rooted in 70’s glam and of course, the Motor City influences of The Stooges, The MC5 and Motown-but still sounding distinctly like no one else. “Plowed” continues to be the band’s signature rock track, having been spotlighted on Guitar Hero’s “Warriors of Rock – 90’s Rock Track Pack” – and on the Paper Jamz Guitar Series 2, in addition to the soundtrack for the Gerard Butler surf movie “Chasing Mavericks.”
