September 21, 2017 | Chicago based Alternative Rock group, 7 Minutes in Heaven (7MIH) are best known for their 2015 smash, Side Effects which hit Billboard’s #1 Alternative New Artists chart, #9 Heatseekers chart, and #60 Independent Artist chart and featured singles “I’m Okay” and “Fireworks.” The band, signed to Rude Records, are released their brand new EP, Symmetry last week, recorded/produced by Seth Henderson at ABG Studios, and mastered by John Naclerio. The EP focuses on finding the positive balance in our lives despite being surrounded by confusion. Throughout the EP, 7MIH continue to use a wide array of influences to create a unique sound and convey a sonic story-line for the listener, hooking you in with powerful vocals and guitar chords, energizing drums, melodic tones and soft keys. Symmetry is available now (physical and digital).

Off the brand new EP, the band unveiled “LOTL,” which premiered exclusively with Alternative Press. And today they are thrilled to unleash the accompanying music video which delves in turning negative experiences into positive ones. It is about making the best of difficult situations and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones. The band’s lead vocalist/guitarists Timmy Rasmussen expands on the song by stating,

“The action of breaking away from the status quo, forcing you to create your own path and taking action to find a solution. Calling yourself out for not doing the things you’ve set out to do, and letting go of what’s been holding you back to allow yourself to grow. Self-reflecting that everything works itself out in the end if you believe in yourself and are aware of what’s going on around you.”

Prior to “LOTL” the band released “Symmetry,” the first single off their forthcoming EP. Vocalist/Guitarist Timmy Rasmussen elaborates that the song is about reaching a breaking point and “realizing what once worked before, no longer does.” He continues by stating it is about “finding what’s right for yourself, taking a step back and reflecting on what needs to change around you and within yourself. Be yourself, what works for someone else usually won’t work for you – know yourself above all.” You can watch the video here.

More about 7 Minutes in Heaven:

Formed in 2012 by vocalist/guitarist Timmy Rasmussen, Chicago-based Alternative Rock band 7 Minutes in Heaven (7MIH) had humble beginnings. After numerous tours and a self-released EP (Get in The Van!), Rasmussen wrote, recorded, and released The Statement while enlisting vocalist/bassist Alex Rogers and guitarist Justin Mondzak in the summer of 2014. With much critical-acclaim the boys toured virtually non-stop including extensive promotion following the Van’s Warped Tour, and finished out the year on their own headlining tour, The Statement Tour, where they toured the midwest and east coast. The Statement consisted of “Misconnections,” the first single Rasmussen released before Rogers made his first appearance on “Rotation,” which AXS coined as a “classic pop-rock sound…adds a bit of grit, making for a fun tune.” But it was “Asylum” that would be the fan-favorite and be their biggest hit to date on Spotify. With the immense support from fans old and new it allowed the band to revisit the EP and record a companion release, The Statement: Deluxe. The deluxe version included acoustic renditions of all The Statement tracks including a new track entitled, “F.U.K.” The track quickly became a fan-favorite with the release of their captivating lyric video which is a nostalgic spin of the popular Super Nintendo, but in true 7MIH fashion.

In 2015 the band kicked off an acoustic tour in support of The Statement: Deluxe which continued with adding drummer Brennan Gilbert to complete the missing pieces of 7 Minutes in Heaven, followed with a national tour with pop-rock veterans, Metro Station. After completing their first full-U.S. tour and a newly completed line-up taking form, Rasmussen, Rogers, Mondzak, and Gilbert spent the remainder of the summer preparing new material for their upcoming release and would enter the studio with producer and owner of ABG Studios, Seth Henderson (Real Friends, Knuckle Puck, and The Devil Wears Prada). Upon completion, the band joined friends, Set It Off, in performing at a number of east coast shows.

On October 1, 2015, the band released “I’m Okay,” the first track off their first collaborative release, Side Effects which was a new milestone for 7MIH. This was the first track that encapsulated the band’s true sound and enabled them to enter the studio to record with actual live drums. It was a stepping stone for the band’s career which catapulted them into their follow up single, “Fireworks,” which premiered exclusively on The Gunz Show via idobi Radio. “Fireworks” is a significant song to the band, as told by Rasmussen, “It’s about experiencing your world changing at a distance from those once close to you, and letting go of those that hold you back. Very few truly understand the sacrifice put into making this what it is and are quick to jump to assumptions which can manifest into toxic energy if you allow it to.” The music video for “Fireworks” was added to rotation on Kerrang! TV and the band was showcased in their first print feature in the Fresh Blood segment of Kerrang! Magazine’s “Kerristmas Khaos” issue. Side Effects released on December 11th, 2015 and was met by success, placing on several Billboard music charts including #1 on Alternative New Artists, #9 on Heatseekers, and #60 on Independent chart.

With the holidays approaching, the band quickly returned to ABG Studios to re-record their past effort of “Noel (No Faith)” with Seth Henderson in an attempt to better represent their original vision for the song, which was released on December 18, 2015. With good attitudes and high morale, the band met 2016 head-on with the Cold Kids & Campfires Tour II, alongside new friends and fellow Feed the Beat artist, Broadside. Through passion and hard work, the boys quickly established themselves performing and touring alongside bands such as: New Found Glory, Set It Off, New Politics, Waterparks, Assuming We Survive, Broadside, SayWeCanFly and A Will Away. Performing on festivals such as: SXSW, So What?! Music Fest, Journey’s stage of Van’s Warped Tour 2016, and Fashion Meets Music Fest. In conclusion of the year, they co-headlined the first So What?! “Artists On The Rise” tour with Assuming We Survive, where they shared the stage with William Beckett (of-The Academy Is…), and The Rocket Summer for the Fall Edition of the fest.

In the beginning of 2017, exactly five-years to date from the launch of the project, 7MIH signed their first record deal with Rude Records. In the early Spring of 2017, they began recording their debut release, Symmetry, again with Seth Henderson at ABG Studios. 7MIH define their style with an honest message of real life experience, using a wide array of influences to create a unique sound and convey a sonic story-line for the listener. Hooking you in with powerful vocals and guitar chords, energizing drums and melodic tones. Symmetry, due out September 15, 2017, focuses on searching for positive balance in their lives despite being surrounded by negativity. The band will be touring this summer with the headlining tour in July and August so be on the lookout for more announcements coming soon!
