Garner Over 22 Million Streams

East Coast & Midwest Tour Kicks Off Today

Oxford, England’s LEWIS WATSON has been quite busy since the release of his critically-hailed album midnight and its stripped-down track-by-track companion midnight (acoustic) which was released on September 15, 2017 via Cooking Vinyl America. Both albums have generated tens of millions of streams on Spotify alone and continue to build steam. Lewis is currently touring the U.S. through early November in support of the new releases (dates below).

Alternating between a series of dates supporting Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors as well as solo dates, the budding British singer-songwriter will be kicking off his touring today at Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH. His tour dates include stops at Washington, D.C.’s 930 Club, New York City’s Rockwood Music Hall, and will be concluding at Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, LA on November 7th.

midnight (acoustic)“The idea came about when we were recording midnight in 2015,” Watson explains.  “One of my favorite bands, Manchester Orchestra, did something similar with one of their records, releasing a full-band album and then an acoustic version of it. Since I loved hearing both sides of those tracks, I decided to strip back the album versions of my songs, and I absolutely loved the process.” Recorded in his home studio, midnight(acoustic) exposes Lewis’ artistry and strength in songwriting with this recording.

Pairing up with this release is his return to the U.S. for his second tour Stateside. “I absolutely loved touring the States earlier this year,” Watson says. “As an Englishman, being able to come the U.S. to play my music is a real privilege and something I always dreamed of doing, so I’m very, very excited. I met so many incredible people and felt like I really connected to the crowds during my gigs. I can’t wait to come back and do it all again in a few months.”

Watson’s sensational, self-reinventing second album midnight was a grand departure from the acoustic approach that helped propel him beyond his past as a YouTube viral sensation in 2010 and his debut album the morning in 2014. Watson showcased a wider reach of songwriting and artistry with the grander, heavier, electronic, more textured, and experimental tapestry found on midnight. Written after a self-imposed six-month break from making music, Watson has called midnight “a snapshot of where I am and who I am now.” From the Snow Patrol-esque “deep the water”, the string-soaked “hello hello”, the emotional, confessional epic “little light”, and the melancholy pop duet “slumber” (featuring Lucy Rose), midnight reveals the vast artistry and creative rebirth Watson has undergone.

Watson’s music has reached audiences all over the world, from being added to numerous Spotifyplaylists including “Hanging Out & Relaxing” (million+ followers), to the playlists of major radio stations including Portland’s KINK, Austin’s KGSR and Boulder’s KBCO, with more to come. With over 1,000,000 listeners on Spotify and almost 100,000 subscribers on YouTube (his breakout platform), 2017 is destined to be the year of Lewis Watson.
