LOS ANGELES, CA – APRIL 16, 2018 — Los Angeles-based shoegaze/post-punk trio TENNIS SYSTEM is excited to announce that their upcoming EP, “P A I N“, will be released later this month. The album will be released on vinyl as a Record Store Day exclusive via Graveface Records on April 21, followed by a digital release on April 27.

Recorded in Philadelphia with Jeff Zeigler (War on Drugs, Nothing, Kurt Vile) and in Los Angeles with Courtney Ballard (All Time Low, Anti-Flag), “P A I N” stays true to TENNIS SYSTEM’s characteristically lush, squalling soundscape, while continuing to thematically delve into the modern, youthful dilemmas of isolation, longing, failure and persistence as well as newly infused melodies filled with the sting of recent personal loss.

TENNIS SYSTEM have partnered with PASTE MAGAZINE to reveal the EP’s debut single and music video, “C L E A R E R”, directed by Logan Rice.

Founder/frontman Matty T. remarked on the video’s meaning, stating:
Logan Rice and I came up with the concept for the C L E A R E R video, a song that questions why, in our modern age, no one seems true to themselves. The girl in the video represents us, somewhat alienated, jaded, but the same in each scenario she finds herself in. That’s what makes her so compelling, so strange to watch. She can only be herself, and that’s a metaphor for the band, too. Tennis System is its own thing. We stay in our own lane. Our own box.”

Lauded as “one of the city’s best live acts” (LA Weekly), TENNIS SYSTEM‘s slash-and-burn live shows remain proof that this is a band best experienced in real time. Having won over crowds playing with The Flaming Lips, Ride, Dinosaur Jr., Kendrick Lamar and Diiv at Austin Psych Fest, SXSW, Noise Pop Fest, Echo Park Rising and the Air + Style festivals, and the Ace Hotel Palm Springs, the band were quickly scooped up by MDDN Management..

TENNIS SYSTEM have continued to make waves appearing live on “Last Call with Carson Daly”, performing at L.A.’s legendary Amoeba Records, completing a residency at the Echo and performing regularly at LA’s iconic Part-Time Punks showcase series.

Keep up-to-date with TENNIS SYSTEM and stay tuned for news on their upcoming live shows!
