Since conception, increasingly impressive efforts through 4 independent LPs helped SYMBOLIC build a strong following locally and internationally. Opening for well-known national acts such as Adrenaline Mob, Fates Warning, UFO, Brian Wheat (of Tesla), PHILM (with Dave Lombardo), guitar legend Michael Schenker, Doro Pesch and others, it was no surprise that Symbolic found themselves in very close company of great music notables.

IN 2017, the band would cross paths with Thom Hazaert and David Ellefson of EMP LABEL GROUP, who would take the band under their wing, even including the track “DEVIL BE ME” on the COMBAT RECORDS compilation COMBAT BULLETS VOL 1.0. (with Hazaert also making a cameo as himself in the track’s video.)

But SYMBOLIC are not newcomers to the World of powerhouse metal, as their epic sophomore release, Nevertime, garnered the band a 2011 SDMA nomination for “Best Hard Rock Album of the Year”. Radio interest locally and abroad, even garnering praise from Prog luminaries like Billy Sherwood (of Yes and Circa fame) who commented on their third effort Disconnected, “Cool stuff indeed…I really dig the band”.

With the 2012 release of Xenatopia, notable music critic and journalist Martin Popoff wrote, “Symbolic have demonstrated a sterling silver craftsmanship in the forging of locked down metal with both brains and brawn”. An effort heavier, and even more progressive, than anything they’ve done to date, under the guidance of producer/engineer Daniel CastlemanXenatopia had corralled the power/prog metal faithful.

2018 sees the release of the band’s fifth album, appropriately titled 5IVE, being released by EMP LABEL GROUP, is easily the band’s most focused release to date. Submerged in the depths of power/thrash/prog glory, 5IVE is already being heralded as the band’s finest hour.

With Scott Bruce (vocals), Steve Potts (guitar), Bobby Fernandez (bass), Louie Borja (guitar) and Steven Elias (drums), Symbolic’s future is strong as one of the core foundations of the San Diego Metal scene.
