OCTOBER 9 – Lookout! Records has announced The Lookouting! compilation, a compilation of performances from Lookout! Records alumni. Today, they have shared the first single, The Mr. T Experience‘s “Gilman Street“. Fans can check it out the music video here:smarturl.it/GilmanStVideo
In January 2017, The Lookouting!: A Celebration of Lookout Records took place at the historic 924 Gilman Street, an all ages DIY, volunteer run, 501(c)3 nonprofit, music & art community space, established in 1986. Over 20+ classic Lookout! Records alumni performed at the event, including The Mr. T Experience, Tilt, Monsula, and Pansy Division.
The Lookouting! compilation was recorded live at 924 Gilman St over the span of four days, celebrating the early years of Lookout! Records. 100% of the proceeds from this record will be donated to 924 Gilman St.
The Lookouting! organizer, Alex Botkin shared “To me, The Lookouting wasn’t special because it brought back over twenty of Lookout Records’ cult classics and brilliant delinquents. These four shows were special because it was a reunion of a community. There were people who hadn’t seen each other in decades, tears welling up as they screamed the chorus to the songs of their teenage defiance.”
On why he thought it was so important to put together the compilation, Alex said, “These recordings capture the energy and emotion of these bands finally returning to 924 Gilman. This album, like the shows, is not only an act of nostalgia but a preservation of the opportunity to express yourself, and all profits will go to 924 Gilman St. so there will always be a place for this.”
The first pressing of The Lookouting! is an exclusive Record Store Day Black Friday release, and will be the only place fans can purchase a physical copy of The Lookouting! on Black and White Double Vinyl. Fans can find a participating record store here: recordstoreday.com
The album will also be available on all digital/streaming services on November 23rd. Fans can pre-order the album and stream the first single here:
