Experience Hendrix – Concert review and photo’s – Taft Theatre – Cincinnati, Ohio

Experience Hendrix tour made a stop in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 21, 2017 and performed at the Taft Theatre. (photo gallery below)

The nearly 3 hour show honored Jimi Hendrix and his music with guitar legends and supporting artists all performing amazing renditions of Hendrix music! Billy Cox (Band Of Gypsys), guitar LEGEND Buddy Guy, Tim Austin (from Buddy Guy’s Band)Zakk Wylde (famous from his time with Ozzy Osborne and his own two bands Black Label Society and the new project Zakk Sabbath), Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Henri Brown, Chris Layton (from Stevie Ray Vaughan), Dweezil Zappa, Mato Nanji, Cincinnati’s own Noah Hunt (from Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band), Keb’ Mo’, The Slide Brothers, and Scott Nelson (from Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band).

I’m a huge fan of Zakk Wylde and he absolutely shredded the guitar like no other during the performance!  Zakk would get right up to the edge of the stage and nearly poke an eye out with the end of his guitar.  Zakk was just amazing to watch, running from one end of the stage to the other and then up into the aisles!!  I think the audience really got fired up by his performance, it was truly a hard act to follow.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd also did a wonderful job with his band mate and Cincinnati’s own Noah Hunt.  I’ve never seen Kenny Wayne perform and was really impressed with his guitar playing and sound.

The act that caught my attention the most was Buddy Guy.  Buddy Guy is such a legend in the music world and it was truly an honor to be in his presence and to be able to capture photographs of him.  He walked out on stage with a huge smile arms wide open and the crowd all stood up in excitement.  Buddy closed his eyes and began to jam on his guitar, it was quite an experience to witness such a legend just a few feet away!

Overall the show was awesome!  If you are a fan of Jimi Hendrix you would absolutely love it!  The versions of Jimi’s songs that were performed were really cool!  If you are not a Hendrix fan but love great music… well this show would have made you happy as well!  The night was stellar and being in the presence of current and future guitar legends was an experience of a lifetime!
