Big Something bring a killer sound and amazing light show to Covington, KY! Review and Photo’s here!

Big Something rolled into Covington, KY and brought a wonderful show to a really cool venue called Octave.  I’ve never been to Octave in Covington, KY but upon entering I was taken back to a setting reminiscent of the big band era.  The art deco design and the cool chandalier’s donning the ceiling were really cool.  As I looked at the stage I was wondering how such a big band was going to fit on such a small stage but Big Something made it work.  As the venue filled with fans, the lights dropped and this amazing set of lights fired up lighting the place up with giant streams of colored light.

Big Something rolled into Covington, KY and brought a wonderful show to a really cool venue called Octave.  I’ve never been to Octave in Covington, KY but upon entering I was taken back to a setting reminiscent of the big band era.  The art deco design and the cool chandalier’s (NO APOSTROPHE) donning the ceiling were really cool.  As I looked at the stage I was wondering (I WONDERED) how such a big band (LARGE BAND? I wouldn’t say BIG BAND, since you just referenced BIG BAND ERA) was going to (Say “would” not ” was going to”)  fit on such a small stage(comma) but Big Something made it work.  As the venue filled with fans, the lights dropped and this amazing set of lights fired up lighting the place up with giant streams of colored light.

Big Something took the stage and started playing their awesome mix of rock, blues, and funk with the song “Undertow”.  Big Something is comprised of Nick MacDaniels – guitar and vocals, Doug Marshall – bass guitar, Josh Kagel – keyboard and trumpet, Casey Cranford – saxophone and EWI, Jesse Hensley – lead guitar, Ben Vinograd – drums. With 6 band members they not only filled the venue with sound they filled the stage area too!

Big Something played next “In The Middle”, “Capt D’, and “Megalodon”.  By the fourth song the crowd was bouncing up and down to the variety of sounds coming from the stage.  With the variety of instruments on the stage including Casey Cranford’s saxophone and Josh kagel’s trumpet mixing in it made for such a unique sound. Big Something really brings a lot of variety into their music.

Big Something went on to play a nine song first set and then came back to play another nine song!  The second setlist consisted of “Wildfire, “UFO’s”, “Amanda”, “Flood” and others.  With fans joyously bouncing to the music it was really a sight to see from the back of the venue.  The light show and the silouhettes of the fans made for quite a cool scene!

If you make it to one of Big Something’s shows you are truly in for a treat!  To top it off, from what I’ve heard you will witness a unique setlist every show as well!
