Melbourne artist, Meg Mac arrives with her long awaited debut album, “Low Blows”; available from 300 Entertainment.  The record debuted at #1 on the Australian overall iTunes and Alternative charts and #6 on the US singer/songwriter charts.

Recorded in Fort Worth, Texas at the Niles City Sound Studio – with the same team behind Leon Bridge’s debut- and with additional production at Electric Lady in New York, “Low Blows” is a powerful collection of dynamic, deep soul, exhortations that have an all-enveloping atmosphere and presence, that is distinctly and uniquely Meg Mac.

Reflecting on recording the album and title track, “Low Blows”, Meg explains – “I’d met the Niles City Sound guys when they were touring with Leon Bridges; Austin Jenkins, Josh Block and Chris Vivon produced and played on Leon’s album, which is one of the reasons I was drawn to recording with them. While I was working in LA I decided to fly to Fort Worth to check out their studio. On arrival I worked up a song live with them and decided that was it”, Meg explains. “I then went to Electric Lady in New York where John O’Mahony mixed it did some additional production,” she adds.

Lead single from the album, “Don’t Need Permission” is a call to arms for anyone who has ever felt the they had to apologize for who they are and seeks empowerment in embracing your own needs. Unafraid and disconcerted, Meg elaborates, “Don’t Need Permission’ is about being yourself and not changing who you are for anyone. It was recorded and produced in Malibu, LA with Christopher Braide. I played piano and used lots of different layered harmonies and melodies to build the song.”

Garnering attention and praise from the likes of COMPLEX, Billboard, W Magazine, V Magazine, and more, the record is the highly anticipated follow up to her 2015 self-titled EP, which heralded support from Glamour, InStyle, FADER, NOISEY, Rolling Stone and more. The track, “Roll Up Your Sleeves” was play listed on stations across America, and featured in the US TV series ‘Girls’ and ‘Grace and Frankie’.

Leading up to the announcement of her debut record, Meg Mac spent long periods in America writing and touring; performing at major festivals including Governor’s Ball, Hangout Fest and Field Trip Festival, tours with Clean Bandit and an inspirational North American ‘Black Messiah’ tour with D’Angelo as well as her own debut sold out shows in NYC and LA.
