“Los Angeles singer/songwriter Cobi has been turning heads since the release of his debut single last year”
“In “Nobody Opened the Door,” Cobi’s expansive voice makes you feel all the feels. He starts the track off modestly and poignantly, backing up his soulful croon with stripped-down guitar strums. The song builds and builds until it bursts—the powerful emotion from his voice is matched with pounding drums and electric guitar riffs.”
Multi-dimensional singer/songwriter, Cobi arrives today with his highly anticipated EP, “Songs From The Ashes (Pt 1)”, showcasing his diverse songwriting skills and sound.
The EP, which has garnered attention from the likes of Paste Magazine and Huffington Post comes after his track, “Don’t You Cry For Me” which is nearing 27 million streams on Spotify. A song that is as powerful as they come, “Don’t You Cry For Me” hit number one on the Spotify Global Viral Charts and saw Cobi make his late night TV debut on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, as well as earning critical acclaim from NPR Music, Billboard, NYLON and more.
He’s spent the summer touring the country and making appearances at major festivals including Lollapalooza, Bunbury, Hangout, BottleRock and more.
Speaking of the EP, Cobi explained, Songs From the Ashes (Pt 1) is an introduction to the album to come. As a symbol of purification, ash is the essence that remains when all else burns away.  Mainstream media pushes so many things in our faces that are damaging to our being. We accept it as the norm but it only leaves us feeling more empty. Underneath is a warning to myself and anyone listening… don’t let those forces pull you down.

He continues, “Nobody Opened the Door is about a love that you are eventually forced to let go of. Despite your best efforts, the winds pull you apart and you’re forced to go down your own path. As you go though life, you remember the pain that love left you with, but you also realize that you wouldn’t be who you are without it. Goddess is about being in love and knowing that it’s not meant to last forever. Knowing from the beginning that it will end in flames adds to the infatuation.”
While singing the blues in smokey bars throughout Northern Minnesota, 12‐year‐old Cobi always had a vision of touring the world. He was eight years old when a family friend first taught him a few basic chords on the guitar. With money earned from mowing lawns, Cobi soon bought an electric guitar and began teaching himself to play his new instrument by ear, relaying heavily on his Godfather’s extensive eclectic music collection.
In 2016 Cobi toured as a guest vocalist for the electronic act Above and Beyond performing at iconic venues including Royal Albert Music Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, the Sydney Opera House, the Greek Theater and more.
