LARKIN POE “Look Away”

Carrying on the American roots tradition with their own innovative blend of blues, Americana, rock, and beats, Georgia sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell of LARKIN POE have premiered their brand new video for the single “Look Away” with Billboard. Taken from their recently released third album PEACH (release date: September 29, 2017 via Tricki-Woo Records), “Look Away” finds the duo mixing “traditional elements of blues with an electro-rock drum beat, adding a layer of intensity to the song.” (Billboard)

Riding off of a swell of media acclaim and praise from their fellow musicians such as Elvis Costello, Elle King, and Bob Seger, Larkin Poe has been building momentum through a healthy dose of word of mouth. Their new album PEACH is comprised of five original blues rock songs written by Megan and Rebecca, and five Traditional blues covers that are a gracious nod to the past and to their southern gothic heritage. Produced and performed by Megan and Rebecca, the album was engineered by Roger Alan Nichols (Steven Tyler, Tyler Bryant, Paramore) and entered the Billboard Heatseekers Chart in the Top 20, and in the Top 10 on the Alternative iTunes Chart.

In recent months, Larkin Poe has been the support act for Bob Seger on his arena tour, and Megan and Rebecca have also previously hit the road as opening and backing bands for Conor Oberst, Kristian Bush (Sugarland) and Elvis Costello who praises that “they have a head start on the rest of us with the unique power and beauty of sibling harmony”. Before the end of 2017, they will be playing a handful of shows including Los Angeles’ Hotel Cafe on Tuesday (Oct. 24th) and NYC’s Mercury Lounge on Nov. 10th. (tour dates below)

Earlier this year, Rebecca and Megan were asked by T-Bone Burnett to be part of the backing band for the MusiCares 2017 “Person of The Year” event honoring Tom Petty, and performed with such musical luminaries as Jakob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Elle King, Gary Clark Jr., Don Henley, Randy Newman and Lucinda Williams. The process of learning 40 Tom Petty songs inspired Megan and Rebecca to keep furthering their musical prowess by covering classic bands and Traditional blues songs on social media. Within 5 months their video posts had been shared 200k times, they had amassed millions of views and 150k+ new Facebook followers. The growing demand from fans for an album of traditional American roots music is what prompted the sisters’ to head into the studio to create PEACHwhich includes 5 of the Traditional blues covers they had previously played live on their social channels.

Larkin Poe have performed at England’s Glastonbury festival twice, were named “Best Discovery of Glastonbury” by the Observer, recently performed at Pilgrimage and Newport Folk Festivals, and their electric and slide guitar riffs earned them the title of “little sisters of the Allman Brothers” among fans and followers. . In 2016, Larkin Poe were invited to perform on CONAN.

PEACH was released on September 29, 2017 via Tricki-Woo Records.
