The Nectars Premiere “We Will Run” on CLASH MAGAZINE

“New York has a legacy of producing some of the world’s best punk bands. The Nectars take inspiration from their New York City forebears, while injecting a heavy dose of lavish pop sheen, resulting in a sound which falls somewhere between peak 90s No Doubt and Riot! – era Paramore.” – Team Rock
“This New Jersey four-piece ooze energy and excitement, while sassy front woman Jessica Kenny evokes the spirit of ‘Don’t Speak’ era Gwen Stefani on hiatus with The Strokes. 2018 has just started with a bang.” – Right Chord Music
“The band’s debut single is a brash and devilish track that crawls under your skin. In a world of oversaturation, it takes a lot for anyone to leave an impression. The Nectars have managed to do so with just one song.”-  Substream Magazine

New Jersey upstarts The Nectars, have just released their brand new single “We Will Run“. The track follows the singles “Heaven” and “I Want It“, which are all featured on the band’s debut album SCI-FI TELEVISION, which is due to land on the May 25th. It was recorded at Barbershop Studios in New Jersey and Studio G in Brooklyn, and is a nine-song collection of short, sharp bangers, each with their own individual sound delving into art-rock debauchery.

“We Will Run” is a euphoric, indie anthem, poised to become a summer soundtrack for dreamers everywhere and ignite US venues as well as festival stages in the UK next month. The track premiered with Clash Magazine yesterday, where leading lady Jessica Kenny explained:

“‘We Will Run’ is a track that’s truly close to our hearts. The song talks about having the desire to leave everything behind and RUN… no looking back. I think that all of us here in The Nectars are dreamers, willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill our hearts desires.”

This is just the third track to be released by the US quartet, who have mastered an exciting sound, harking back to the New York punk / pop scene of the late 70’s but filtered through the modern sensibility of tech-savvy millennial creatives, with influences ranging from the likes of Blondie, The Ramones and Television to 90’s era No Doubt and Wolf Alice.

Jessica says, “Sci-fi Television is our band aid for a deep wound. It holds back the monsters inside each of us. Beneath it, our worries and dreams cycle wildly. This is the story of our twenties, wandering, weird, reckless and bewildering. From the peaks of new love to the devastating lows of two house fires, we forced ourselves to air everything in hope that doing so would bring us to a higher plane musically. This album is a collection of ideas and stories that have been melted into songs which represent the humans (or aliens) that make up The Nectars.”

After already making noise in New York City, The Nectars are set to whip up a storm next month with their first visit to the UK, where they will be bringing their energetic live shows to The Great Escape and Dot To Dot festival stages, showcasing exactly why they already have fans and tastemakers hyped with excitement in the US.

Jessica comments, “We’re stoked to bring our stories to life on stage during our U.K tour next month. We are wild with excitement for what’s to come and to be able to share ourselves with anyone and everyone who cares to listen…”
