(From press release) Imagine if Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, and Alice Cooper had a grandmother that fronted a rock band…enter Granny 4 Barrel! A Neo-Victorian steampunk shock rock nightmare – she is the Matriarch of Metal! And soon, Granny will be rocking the USA – on a killer bill that also includes Texas Hippie Coalition and Kobra and the Lotus. The tour kicked off on April 19th in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the tour will crisscross the states until June 3rd, when the tour wraps up in Austin, Texas.
Granny 4 Barrel did not disappoint the crowd at Trixie’s Entertainment Complex in Louisville, KY! As the stage was set for Granny’s arrival, the lights dimmed and the band’s signs lined both sides of the stage with a wooden rocking chair in the middle. Granny dressed in an old time dress with grey hair, a cane, and welding goggles was joined by her band mates each dressed in steampunk like attire walked on stage and I have to say, the crowd definitely did not know what to expect by the looks on their faces! Granny may look old but she can move for an older woman, wielding her microphone and cane belting out some great tunes! By the middle of the first song the crowd had moved closer to the stage and was getting into Granny and her music! Granny 4 Barrel has a unique brand of hard rock/metal music fusing elements of other famous hard rockers and twisting it into their own brand of music which kicks ass! By the time the song “Freak Flag” played the crowd was very much into the act and moving around and obviously enjoying the music. Granny 4 Barrel is an act you definitely have to check out! They are currently on tour with Texas Hippie Coalition and the Year of the Bull tour. (Tour dates)
