An amazing tour rolled through the Mercury Ballroom in Louisville, KY on May 22nd, 2018 with The Used, Red Sun Rising, and The Fever 333 all performing!
The Fever 333
The Fever 333 kicked the night off with a crazy blast of power and energy on stage. This 3 piece outfit from Los Angeles consists of members Jason Aalon Butler – Vocals, Stevis Harrison – Guitar, and Aric Improta – Percussion. The Fever 333 not only has amazing songs but also a strong message mixed in with talking points about current events in the world today. The band has already hit the festival circuit performing most recently at Rock On The Range in Columbus, OH. Lead singer Jason Aalon Butler started the set off standing on the stage with a hood on his head for nearly two minutes while a background track with famous and infamous quotes. After standing still nearly 2 minutes the hood came off Jason’s head and a literal explosion of energy and music lit up the stage with their first song of the night “Burn It”. These guys guys are crazy(coma) running and jumping all over the stage while knocking out some amazing music! The band went on to play “Made in America”, “Walking In My Shoes”, and “Hunting Season” as well as other songs from their EP “Made In America”. The Fever 333’s set ended with lead singer Jason Butler jumping into the crowd and then running upstairsof the Mercury Ballroom and singing over the edge of the balcony. This band is going to be HUGE! Get out and see them ASAP!
Next up for the night was Ohio’s Red Sun Rising to keep the music flowing. Red Sun Rising consists of band members Mike Protich – Vocals/Guitar, Ryan Williams – Guitar, Ricky Miller – Bass/Vocals, Dave McGarry – Guitar/Vocals, and Pat Gerasia – Drums. Red Sun Rising has been releasing hit after hit since their first major album release “Polyester Zeal” back in 2015. Red Sun Rising’s latest release “Thread” came out in March of this year and the single “Deathwish” has been played a ton on active rock radio! Lead singer Mike Protich took the microphone and kicked things off hit song “Amnesia”. The band continued their set by playing other fan favorites such as “The Otherside”, “Emotionless”, and finished the set with their latest, “Deathwish”. Red Sun Rising has such a dynamic live sound with powerful guitars and Mike Protich’s great voice. The band was fun to watch bouncing around the stage and interacting with fans.
The Used has been around since 2001 which seems like a long time these days with the music scene, and they have definitely withstood the test of time. The Used was the headlining act for this amazing night of music. The Used consists of band members Bert McCraken – Vocals, Jepha Howard -Bass, Dan Whitesides – Percussion, and Joey Bradford – Guitar. When band membersof The Used took the stage, the packed Mercury Ballroom went nuts! The band kicked things off with “Maybe Memories” and then rolled right into “The Bird and The Worm” which had everyone singing along. After the second song, lead singer Bert McCracken thanked the crowd, and said, “It was good to be back in Louisville.” The band sounded great and had really cool lights illuminating the band and stage. The Used then went into the heart of their set performing “Listening”, “Blood On My Hands”, “Empty With You”, and many other fan favorites. By the time the set had ended the crowd was chanting for one more song and The Used came back out and delivered, performing “A Box Full of Sharp Objects”, which also includes their version Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” mixed in.
The entire night of music was amazing! Most of these bands are on the Summer Festival circuit, and The Used will be performing at select dates of the final Vans Warped Tour this summer.
