Get out the door and rock your face off with the Dallas-based group, Messer. Although not new to Ohio, the group graced the stage at Bogart’s for the first time ever recently with Pop Evil and Memphis May Fire performing to a packed crowd.
These guys love their craft and it shows. They play with earnest excitement. Each member worked the crowd and the stage, bringing more and more energy to an already lit evening. Speaking of lit, the flashy stage set up commanded attention. During the group’s first song, “Everything Beautiful,” screams erupted from the vast pit with every pulse of light. Neon flashes on drummer Kenn Youngar’s set pulsed with steam jets, building even more buzz.
The group seemed so much more than an opening act, probably because these five musicians have a lot of stage experience together. Dereak Messer (vocals), Maddox Messer (bass/vocals), Javier Contreras (guitar/vocals), Donnie Deville (guitar/vocals) and Youngar have toured extensively since getting together in 2018. See something unique with that full lineup? Dereak and Maddox are “Brothers in rock, not by blood,” explains Ed Bunker of No Problem! PR and Marketing.
If you missed this powerful evening of rock, catch the guys of Messer on the road this spring, or pick up their self-titled debut album. Still can’t get enough Messer? The band offers up solid music videos to tide you over until they tour in Ohio again.
