Bayside – Bunbury Music Festival Day 1

Bayside

By Katie Morton

After a late-spring rain shower, Bayside took the Monster Energy Stage and brought the crowd to life rocking out to “Pigsty” in their signature pop-punk sound and ska-like dis-chord and harmonies. Bayside is an American punk band from the Bayside, Queens neighborhood of New York City, formed in 2000, currently consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Anthony Raneri, lead guitarist Jack O’Shea, bassist Nick Ghanbarian, and drummer Chris Guglielmo.

The band followed up with song “Mary” which rings of a spiteful breakup song with a dose of hope that everything is better on the other side. Raneri awkwardly addressed the crowd saying, “We’ve been a band for 20 years and I still can’t figure out what I’m supposed to do on stage, so were just going to play.” The crowd cheered as the stage roared to life with “Blame It on Bad Luck.” The band has the vibe of some middle-aged musicians who know who they are stylistically, love the music, and know how to have fun and rock out. Bayside has no current dates listed on their tour, but check out their website for updates and your chance to catch them.
