BIO:
Vancouver, Canada’s Theory of a Deadman became the first act to sign with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger’s 604 Records imprint in 2001. Tyler Connolly (vocals/guitar) reportedly slipped a copy of the band’s demo to Kroeger at a post-concert party and the two were soon collaborating on songs together. One of these, “Invisible Man,” was used as the B-side for 2002’s wildly successful Spider-Man theme “Hero” (a Kroeger collaboration with Saliva singer Josey Scott), and anticipated Theory of a Deadman’s self-titled debut the same year. Also featuring Dave Brenner (guitar), Dean Back (bass), and Tim Hart (drums), the album’s hook-laden, emotional hard rock sounded very similar to their celebrity benefactor’s band.

But a healthy touring work load and simple maturation ultimately helped Theory of a Deadman break out of that confining stylistic box for their more varied and distinctive sophomore effort, Gasoline, which was recorded with session drummer Robin Diaz. Theory of a Deadman returned to the studio in 2007 to record their third album, Scars and Souvenirs, which was produced by Howard Benson. The album was released in April 2008, and was certified gold in less than a year. The hard-hitting Canadian rockers fourth studio album, The Truth Is…, which was preceded by the single “Lowlife,” dropped on July 12, 2011, and was followed by a co-headlining tour with Alter Bridge under the banner the Carnival of Madness. In 2014, the band announced they were working on an album, and a new single, “Drown,” arrived in April of that year. Their fifth album, SaVages, followed in July of 2014.

Although all members originally hail from Hawaii, the reggae-rock group Iration launched their career in Isla Vista, California, a college town near Santa Barbara. With their laid-back sound and pop melodies, the band was an instant hit on the California college circuit. In 2006, their growing fan base got a chance to bring a little Iration back to the dorm when the band released its New Roots EP. The next year saw them release their debut album, No Time for Rest, which featured a guest shot from reggae legend Mikey Dread. A tour with Pepper followed in 2008 along with the EP Sample This. Touring kept the band busy until 2010 when the album Time Bomb arrived. They revisited the EP format a year later with Fresh Grounds, while their 2015 release Hotting Up topped Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart.

BIO:
According to a series of short films broadcast on the Internet, Fozzy is a legendary American metal band who, unable to get out of their record contract, spent 20 years in Japan; when they returned to the U.S., lead singer Moongoose McQueen and the rest of the band found that artists like the Scorpions and Ozzy Osbourne had become stars by stealing Fozzy’s material. In reality, Fozzy is fronted by WWF wrestler Chris Jericho, with the remainder of the group consisting of Atlanta rap-metal outfit Stuck Mojo.

Fozzy’s self-titled debut album was released by Palm Pictures/Megaforce as a tie-in. A short tour and an MTV special (no doubt due to the WWF’s contract with the network’s parent company) led to minor recognition from the metal underground, but Jericho’s wrestling commitments cut the band short after its release. The year 2005 saw the release of All That Remains, the group’s first collection to feature all original material. The album sold over 100,000 copies and was generally well received by both fans and critics. Chasing the Grail, released in 2010, helped to further cement the band as not only a legitimate, populist metal act, but a force to be reckoned with as well. Released in 2012, Sin and Bones, the band’s third collection of originals, premiered at number one on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, eventually making its way on to the coveted Top 200 albums chart, while 2014’s Do You Wanna Start a War proved to be the band’s most successful outing to date, debuting in the number 53 slot on the Billboard Top 200 and cracking the Top Ten on the Hard Rock Albums chart.

PromoWest Productions and Miller Lite Presents Crywolf

COST: $13.00 Advance/$15.00 Day of Show
ON-SALE: August 3
BIO:
Crywolf (born Justin Taylor Phillips) got his start in 2012 with dubstep just as it was taking off in the United States, crafting remixes and honing his skills. The Raleigh native grew up in a large musical family, moving from North Carolina to Hong Kong and on to New York, where he attended college as an economics major. Though music started out as a hobby, he eventually left school to pursue it full-time. As the EDM scene grew bloated with phoned-in beats and soulless hedonism, Phillips changed his sound, opting for personal artistic expression and emotional connection over big drops. His first EPs — 2013’s Ghosts and 2014’s Angels — incorporated some big beats and pop-EDM flourishes, but within a cocoon of atmospherics and reflective lyrics that set him apart. The first taste of his eventual evolution came with his split EP with Canadian electronic musician Ianborg, 2014’s Runaway (and the Remixes collection the following year). He released two other albums on his Okami label in 2015: the atmospheric journey of Dysphoria and the lush, sweeping Cataclasm, which was recorded in Iceland.

Austin, Texas’ MISSIO is an electronic-duo known for their dark, emotive pop. Formed in 2014, MISSIO features singer/songwriter Matthew Brue and producer/instrumentalist David Butler. Initially, the project began as an outlet for Brue’s solo material. However, after he invited Butler to collaborate on a few songs, they decided to move forward together. Recording in Butler’s converted garage/home studio, they began sculpting their brooding, anthemic sound; releasing such tracks as “I Don’t Even Care About You,” “I Run to You,” and “Can I Exist?” By the end of 2015, they had made their debut at SXSW and garnered support slots alongside acts like SAFIA, K. Flay, and others. In 2017, they delivered the single “Middle Fingers” and signed a recording contract with RCA Records.

PromoWest Productions and Miller Lite Presents Tyler Childers w/ Colter Wall

WHERE:  The Basement – Columbus, Ohio
DOORS: 8:00pm
COST: $12.00 Advance/$15.00 Day of Show
ON-SALE: August 4
BIO:
Like many great Southern storytellers, singer-songwriter Tyler Childers has fallen in love with a place. The people, landmarks and legendary moments from his childhood home of Lawrence County, Kentucky, populate the 10 songs in his formidable debut, Purgatory, an album that’s simultaneously modern and as ancient as the Appalachian Mountains in which events unfold. The album, co-produced by Grammy Award winners Sturgill Simpson and David Ferguson, is a semiautobiographical sketch of Childers’ growth from wayward youth to happily married man, told in the tradition of a Southern gothic novel with a classic noir antihero who may just be irredeemable. Childers had been searching for a certain sound for his debut album for years as he honed his craft, and was finding it elusive when his friend, drummer Miles Miller, introduced him to Simpson, the Grammy Award-winning musician and fellow Kentuckian. Childers sent Simpson a group of his songs, then went to visit him in Nashville. Intrigued, Simpson enlisted the aid of Ferguson, the Grammy Award winning sound engineer. They assembled a band that included multi-instrumentalists Stuart Duncan, Michael J. Henderson and Russ Pahl, bassist Michael Bub and Miller on drums, of course, and helped Childers make a debut album of consequence that announces an authentic new voice.
