NOAH GUNDERSEN continues to build anticipation for his third studio LP White Noise with the premiere of his new track “Bad Desire,” streaming now on Entertainment Weekly. “Bad Desire” is the newest song from White Noise, following last week’s music video premiere of “The Sound” on EarmilkWhite Noise is being released on September 22 through Cooking Vinyl and is available for pre-order HERE.

Of the contemplative new track, Gundersen told Entertainment Weekly the song is focused on “a lot of the pseudo relationships that people find themselves in now with the way that online dating works and the ways that we’re kind of getting away from traditional relationship trajectories.”

“Bad Desire” showcases the powerful, passionate vocals and well-crafted, emotive songwriting that fans of Gundersen are already familiar with, as well as reflecting the versatile spectrum of rock music that White Noiseexplores. Whereas previous track “The Sound” shows the explosive, commentary-driven side of Gundersen, “Bad Desire” is much more introspective and soul baring. With lyricism like “little love drug needle, you make me feel like for a minute nothing here is wrong”, Gundersen sings a tale of ambivalence at the end of a difficult relationship. Guitars and organs carry out the heart-heavy core of the song, musically bringing out the emotional impact.

The conception of White Noise started long before Gundersen stepped into his homemade studio, nestled inside a 1600 square foot loft on the marina in Seattle, Washington. “At the beginning of 2016, I walked on stage and was met with a feeling of overwhelming emptiness,” Gundersen revealed. “I imagined a career playing music I didn’t believe in and was terrified.” After his set, a fellow songwriter expressed a quote to Gundersen from famed choreographer, Martha Graham: “No artist is ever pleased… There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction; a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.” From there, something awoke in Gundersen that can now be best described as the 13 tracks that embody White Noise.

In addition to Gundersen’s upcoming North American tour this fall, he will head to the UK and Europe this September for a number of solo shows, stopping by London and Berlin in support of White Noise.

The White Noise North American tour will kick off this October, with support from Phoebe Bridgers November 2 (Houston TX – The Heights Theater) through November 17 (Seattle, WA – Neptune Theatre).
