ONTARIO, CANADA | AUGUST 18, 2017: Guelph, Ontario-based progressive death metal outfit Becomes Astral has released their album, Paleblood Sky, today which features six pulverizing tracks recorded and mixed by Christian Donaldson and Marco Frechette (The Grid). To celebrate the album’s release, Becomes Astral partnered with Decibel Magazine today for the world premiere of the official music video for the opening track, “The Glass Lake,” a song that begins with a joyous sound then quickly turns on it’s head to show you the instability we all feel in everyday life. “The Glass Lake” is a term coined by an eccentric acquaintance of the vocalist, Cam Sherer. He used this term to describe the downfall of humanity saying it’s only a matter of time before we hit ‘the glass lake.’ What Sherer aims to convey through these lyrics is that we must be conscious of our impact on what we often forget, how it is a fragile existence and can very suddenly become detrimental toward our initial momentum. View the video in full at Decibel Magazine here. On the release today, the band states:

“After almost 2 years of hard work put into writing and preparing this album, we are absolutely stoked to present ‘The Glass Lake’ coming off our new album Paleblood Sky! Having Christian Donaldson producing this album allowed us to come out with a product we are very proud to call our own, take a listen and come catch us on tour from August 18th until September 9th across Canada!” – Liam Frith

Becomes Astral is a progressive death metal band based out of Guelph, Ontario. Formed in the later months of 2013, they quickly got to work on releasing their debut EP, The Mind, which was released in October 2014. The Mind was recorded and mixed by Don Levasseur at Atlantic Studio. After their debut release, Becomes Astral toured heavily for the following year, covering west coast Canada, and two Ontario and Quebec tours. Playing steadily since, Becomes Astral has made themselves a force to be reckoned with, allowing the band to sell out half of their last tour in Ontario. In early 2016, Becomes Astral took a break from playing live to write a full-length record, and returned to shows in late 2016. In December 2016 the band entered The Grid Studios in Montreal, QC with Christian Donaldson of Cryptopsy as a producer and came out with a piece of music they are proud to call their own, Paleblood Sky.

Head to Decibel Magazine today to catch the exclusive video premiere for “The Glass Lake.” Becomes Astral’s album, Paleblood Sky is out now and can be purchased here. The band also just kicked off their national Canadian tour with Eye of Horus, and dates can be found below. Follow Becomes Astral online for new music, announcements, shows, and more.
