Oxford, England’s LEWIS WATSON has been quite busy since the release of his critically-hailed album midnight earlier this year. Aside from touring Europe and his inaugural U.S. tour this Spring, he’s been hard at work at recording midnight (acoustic), a stripped-down track-by-track companion to his aforementioned album (release date: September 15, 2017 via Cooking Vinyl America).
“The idea came about when we were recording midnight in 2015,” Watson explains. “One of my favorite bands, Manchester Orchestra, did something similar with one of their records, releasing a full-band album and then an acoustic version of it. Since I loved hearing both sides of those tracks, I decided to strip back the album versions of my songs, and I absolutely loved the process.” Recorded in his home studio, midnight(acoustic) exposes Lewis’ artistry and strength in songwriting with this recording.
Pairing up with this release is his return to the U.S. for his second tour Stateside. “I absolutely loved touring the States earlier this year,” Watson says. “As an Englishman, being able to come the U.S. to play my music is a real privilege and something I always dreamed of doing, so I’m very, very excited. I met so many incredible people and felt like I really connected to the crowds during my gigs. I can’t wait to come back and do it all again in a few months.”
Alternating between a series of dates supporting Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors as well as solo dates, the budding British singer/songwriter will be kicking off his touring on October 11th at Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH. Watson’s tour dates also will feature stops at Washington, D.C.’s 930 Club, New York City’s Rockwood Music Hall, and will be concluding at Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, LA on November 7th.
