Bobaflex CD Release Show WAS EPIC at Newport Music Hall In Columbus, OH – Review & Photos!

It was one hell of a rockin’ and rowdy night at Newport Music Hall in Columbus for the release party for Eloquent Demons, the 8th studio album from Bobaflex, sponsored by PromoWest and 99.7 The Blitz. The band has already played over 250 shows in support of the album, but this one was an extra special celebration.

Three Columbus local bands kicked off the party. Lovesick Radio has toured with major bands and performed all over the world. I was excited to finally experience their live show and I wasn’t disappointed. They have a unique blended style with influences from rock and pop and even a little hip-hop. LIQUID6TEEN took over the stage next and wowed the crowd with their aggressive rock style including a killer cover of the Dio classic “Holy Diver.” They had a great energy, which was contagious for the crowd. Fists started pumping. Heads started banging. People started moshing. And then came Dread Engine. Every time I see this band they get better and better. Their stage presence is captivating and the vocal gymnastics between Sam Stockdale and Rick Kaercher is unparalleled. They roused the crowd into raging mosh pits and vigorous chants of their motto “Many Parts. One Engine.” This trio of talent definitely did their jobs of pumping up the crowd for the main event.

As Ronnie Hunter of 99.7 The Blitz reminded the crowd, Bobaflex has been busting their asses for a long time. For almost 20 years they have been making music and touring the country at an almost non-stop pace. Bobaflex has played all lower 48 states over the last 7 years, and they have played 100+ shows every year including a record setting 154 in 2016.  This constant schedule has crafted the band into one of the tightest live rock n’ roll bands in the country.

After a dark and rousing intro from an “Eloquent Demon” (pun intended), Bobaflex lit up the stage and launched into a song from their new CD – “I Am A Nightmare.” From that point on the crowd was riled up and ready to rock to a variety of songs from the Bobaflex catalog. They played some of their biggest hits like  “I’m Glad You’re Dead”, “Mama (Don’t Take My Drugs Away)”, and “A Spider In The Dark.” They introduced the crowd to the first two single releases from Eloquent Demons – “Long Time Coming” and their spine tingling cover of the Pink Floyd smash “Hey You.” They closed the show with their mega-hit and fan favorite “Bury Me With My Guns On.”

The crowd’s energy and excitement was crackling all night at Newport Music Hall. It was definitely a release party for the record books. Bobaflex continues their tour to promote Eloquent Demons throughout September.  Find a date near you!
