Swedish songstress Frida Sundemo is gearing up to release her highly anticipated international debut album Flashbacks & Futures, due on October 6th through leading Scandinavian record label Cosmos Music.
Ahead of the release, Frida will be visiting the States during New York Fashion Week and is confirmed to play the Kia360 Event on September 13 – a female driven event that is showcasing the Livari line – a collaboration between Alysia Reiner (award winning actress from Orange is the New Black, and Better Things, and an environmental and feminist activist and producer), Claudine DeSola (celebrity stylist and founder of Caravan Stylist Studio) and Tabitha St. Bernard-Jacobs (designer of Tabii Just and Women’s March organizer), LIVARI is a luxury fashion line that was created with the sole purpose of empowering women. It is zero waste, women-led, women-designed and made ethically in New York.
From the opening Pet Shop Boyish title track right through to the teary, fearful album closer ‘Astronaut’, Flashbacks & Futures is where Hans Zimmer meets Robyn. The record inspired by space, traversing a vast universe from minimal synth-pop isolation to heavenly orchestral vistas, filled with colour and beauty. Frida explains this inspiration, “First of all, I love the way I feel when my mind is set on space. It’s like I enter this place beyond time where you’re free to create whatever you like. I feel that I’m allowed to think and create much bigger than I usually do.”
She continues, “Second, I’m struck by the beauty of it. You’d never need a filter to make a photo of outer space to pop. I’m also in love with all kind of sci-fi movies taking place in space. Everything from 2001: A Space Odyssey to The Martian or Interstellar.” Elsewhere on the record the pulsating undulations of the anthemic hit-in-the-making ‘Stay Young’ and the arresting sparseness of tracks such as ‘Circles’ and ‘To The End And Back’, further develop the sound that Frida and producer Joel Humlén have been making their own over the past few years.
Frida Sundemo has created a debut of otherworldly beauty and one that is set to meet the expectations for one of the most highly anticipated albums to be coming out of Scandinavia this year.

FURTHER INFORMATION ON FRIDA SUNDEMO:
Frida Sundemo released her debut album Dear, Let It Out exclusively in Japan in 2010, with its lead single ‘Towers’ becoming a No.1 radio smash. Two years later she began to create music with producer/songwriter Joel Humlén, and together they spawned the critically acclaimed EPs Indigo in 2013 and 2014’s Lit Up By Neon.
Frida’s profile rose even further in 2015 when she made her Hollywood acting debut with a leading role in the big screen adaption of John Niven’s Kill Your Friends, alongside stars including Nicholas Hoult and James Corden.
In the film Frida fronted the A&R-hounded collective The Lazies, where she performed her highly praised single ‘Heroes’, and also had two further new songs feature in the soundtrack. Her irresistible music has lit up the small screen too in recent months with the delicate ‘Keep An Eye On Me’ featured in Grey’s Anatomy, while the uplifting ‘You’ premiered with Scream Queens.
Now newly signed to leading Scandinavian record label Cosmos Music, Frida is releasing her international debut album Flashbacks & Futures in 2017, which has already delivered the highly acclaimed single’s ‘We Are Dreamers’ and ‘It’s OK’.
