In addition, Ryan will perform on the final Warped Tour this Summer for four dates. “Warped Tour was an integral part of the success Yellowcard was able to have,” says Ryan. “In fact, I think our biggest goal when we set out at first was to someday play the Main Stage at Warped. [Founder] Kevin Lyman and Warped Tour have always been champions for the bands they get behind, and we benefited so much from that.”While he is currently enjoying the resounding success of Thirteen, Ryan will be celebrating his Warped Tour history as part of the seminal band he was a part of for almost two decades with an intimate acoustic Yellowcard set on the Main Stage. “With my first solo work now released, I am looking forward to playing classic Yellowcard songs for fans on the final cross-country Warped Tour. I want the shows to be about celebrating our band’s history and sharing how much it meant to me over the years.”
The four dates on which he will be performing are:
- July 10th– Nashville, TN (Tennessee State Fairgrounds)
- July 12th– Virginia Beach, VA (Veterans United Home Loans Ampth)
- July 13th– Camden, NJ (BB&T Pavilion)
- July 14th, Holmdel, NJ (PNC Bank Arts Center)
“I think I’m most looking forward to the show at PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ,” he says. “That crowd has always been a force to be reckoned with. I’m sure the singalongs will be all time.”
Released on May 25, 2018 via The Lone Tree Recordings, Thirteen was unleashed ultimately as a surprise, shocking both fans and critics alike, who not only devoured his intimate and raw musical reflections but found it not so much a continuation of Yellowcard’s catalog but a step sideways and forward. Indie music tome AltWire gave the release an A minus review, saying “THIRTEEN is a body of work that benefits beautifully from the past, with Key bearing the weight of it all lyrically and yet still displaying a continual desire to pursue the better and beyond.” Highwire Daze hails, “With Thirteen, William Ryan Key initiates a new direction in an already brilliant and inspiring career.” Prelude Press sums it up best: “Thirteen feels like a new beginning for William Ryan Key, and a spectacular one at that.”
“I have been blown away by the reception of Thirteen,” Ryan says, genuinely shocked. “I think it’s natural to be nervous and excited when releasing your first solo work. Now that I’m starting to read reviews and play the songs live I am feeling super comfortable and can’t believe how positive everyone’s reaction has been. I’m looking forward to finding out where it goes from here.” |
