The track itself explores what it’s like trying to get to know someone you are interested in. More specifically: “We live in a small town where everybody knows everybody and the song is about meeting someone I knew nothing about (for once), and navigating the murky waters of trying to pursue them in this day & age,” explains Pat Feely. “The vibe of the song is the general excitement of having a crush while not being in the mood for anything serious.”
The track is built on a 4-bar drum loop that creates the band’s signature 90s-esque meets early 2000’s pop-rock sound. Combined with their clever hyper-literate lyrics, the track is the ultimate summer indie pop rock track.
Substream Magazine noted the band’s “infectious songwriting” with their previously released EP Disposable (April 2017), while BuffaBlog praise the band for “penning irresistibly upbeat emo anthems.”
