FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUGUST 20, 2018Los Angeles’ up-and-coming alternative folk trio SCI-FI ROMANCE are excited to share they will self release their next full-length album, “Dreamers & Runaways” on October 19. Combining guitars, layered cello performances, stacked drums and percussion, and evocative baritone vocals, the band has further expanded on their unique, textured blend of folk, Americana, punk, and metal influences.
Multi-instrumentalist Vance Kotrla’s addition of piano, vibraphone, Theremin, and assorted other musical esoterica enriched the album’s 10 tracks, including a a nearly unrecognizable, stunning cover of grunge icons Temple of the Dog’s 1991 single, “Wooden Jesus.”
“Dreamers & Runaways” was written during the tumult after the 2016 U.S. election against a backdrop of near-constant local and national protest and its debut single, “Voices,” is a powerful first listen capturing the pervasive sense of helplessness felt in everyday life and the inherent power of our voices when we stand up and speak out.
Premiered yesterday via Earmilk.com, LISTEN to “Voices” here: https://soundcloud.com/sci-fi-romance/voices-1.
