“One of rock’s most thrilling young bands” – Artist Direct
Fort Worth, TX. – October 12, 2018 – Alternative band The Unlikely Candidates have just released their newest single “Bells” today via RED MUSIC. Listen to the anthemic, head bobber HERE. Last week the track premiered on Fox Sports as the network’s Thursday Night Football first listen campaign during the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots game.
“As a man walks through the crowd on his way to the gallows, he thinks of how he got there, what he’s become, and where, if anywhere, he’ll go once he reaches the end of the rope. ‘Bells’ is the ballad of the dammed,” states frontman Kyle Morris about the track. “It’s about how pain, shame, and the law of man are all things of this world that are stripped away in the light of the last real truth. That we must all meet Death as a friend or foe…naked, alone, and carrying all that we have done in this life.”
“Bells” follows the band’s previously released jams “Best I Ever Had“, about a young love gone toxic, and “Oh My Dear Lord“, which Baeble raves as “The stormy song is a dark anthem that would definitely perk up the ears of AWOLNATION or X Ambassadors fans.” The latter was featured on television shows like ABC’s American Idol, FOX’s The Four, NFL’s Super Bowl 2018 playoffs, ESPN’s 2018 Indy 500 programming and more. The hit has racked up over streams on Spotify. Due to the track’s success, FOX Sports and the MLB both named The Unlikely Candidates as “Artist of the Month”. Stream “Best I Ever Had” HERE and “Oh My Dear Lord’ HERE.
Flaunting outsider panache and theatrical hooks as oversized as their home state of Texas, The Unlikely Candidates formed at a high school party before going on to release three EPs and log countless miles on the road alongside everyone from Sublime With Rome, The Offspring, the Dirty Heads and Fall Out Boy. Most recently, 2017’s Bed of Liars spawned “Your Love Could Start A War,” which clocked over 4.7 million Spotify streams and charted in the top 40 at Alternative Radio. Along the way, the band has earned acclaim from the likes of The New York Times, AXS, Esquire and more. The quintet kicked off 2018 by releasing a Deluxe Edition of their Danger To Myself EP, which features the single “Oh My Dear Lord.” More recently, The Unlikely Candidates wrapped up a co-headlining U.S. tour with Brick + Mortar before releasing their new song, “Best I Ever Had.”
The Unlikely Candidates is Kyle Morris (vocals), Brent Carney (lead guitar), Cole Male (guitar), Jared Hornbeek (bass) and Kevin Goddard (drums).
