Over the course of Ministry’s multi-decade career, one of the musicians most respected for working with creator Al Jourgensen to help develop the band’s gritty, heavy-handed sound is Paul Barker. The multi-instrumentalist, who was a touring bass player in the band from 1986 to 2003, was an essential component in the studio for Ministry’s seminal album “The Land Of Rape And Honey,” working one-on-one with Jourgensen, contributing programming and production work on the album that would come to define both Ministry and the industrial genre.
Though Barker has not been associated with Ministry in 15 years, he has returned for a rare interview to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “The Land Of Rape And Honey.” Discussing flashbacks from studio sessions, the decision not to involve a producer and the album’s legacy as a modern piece of music, Barker’s chat concludes a month-long video interview series, premiered exclusively by REVOLVER Magazine.
