Castle Black with The Kids Born Wrong, Bear Bones, and Bad Wires
Butchertown Social // Louisville, KY
November 8th, 2018
New York post-punk band Castle Black, who just wrapped up their Bear Bones tour, made a stop recently in Louisville, KY with their tour mates Bear Bones, a two-piece rock band from southern Michigan. Having released their latest EP, “the gods that adored you”, a few months ago, the band performed tracks from the EP, as well as some older ones. Butchertown Social was a great setting for this evening, a neighborhood bar and restaurant that doubles as a music venue. With a low stage set up at the front of the venue, it was lit mainly by christmas lights that adorned the windows with a few small lights overhead, giving the space an incredibly cozy feel. Starting out the evening was Louisville band Bad Wires followed by Bear Bones, whose loud and fun garage rock sound and energetic stage presence got the crowd warmed up. Castle Black took the stage next. With their grungy, post-punk sound, the trio rocked the stage in a swirl of energy. Front woman/guitarist Leigh Celent commanded the stage with her aggressive vocals and drummer Joey Russo, who also drums for Bear Bones, was a bundle of energy behind his drum kit! They are an incredibly fun live band and it was clear that the crowd was having a great time! Thanking the crowd for coming out this evening, the band performed a fairly short but high-energy set that I have no doubt gained them some new fans! Local punk band The Kids Born Wrong headlined the show and capped off a great evening of music.
