Most people at 60 tend to retire from working. That’s not the case with Al Jourgensen. Having just successfully released “Amerikkkant” earlier this year there seems to be nothing slowing Ministry down. This year also marks the 30 year anniversary of “Land of Rape and Honey”.
This current tour included a full song setlist of the most recent album which pulls no punches on the topic of politics. Watching Ministry perform is pretty surreal with the combination of lighting, TV monitors stacked throughout the stage, and a full backdrop that follows the thought provoking music. One thing that is immediately noticeable is the brutality of seeing songs from the album “Amerikkkant” live! This, combined with the crowd losing themselves to the night, made for a hell of a show!
After the political infused section came the Ministry classics, starting with Land of Rape and Honey to the fans delight. You could see every fan singing along in unison, young and old. It was quite amazing considering the song was probably older than a third of the crowd in attendance. This speaks volumes of the impact Al Jourgensen and Ministry have had on the world of music. Other classics included Just One Fix, Stigmata, and So What, to name a few. Shouts of delirium and fists flew in the air, crowds of people jumping in unison and smiles as wide as a face could stretch. So much joy was had at witnessing a music icon deliver a top notch performance!
I would highly recommend catching Ministry live any chance you get, I know I won’t miss them at my next opportunity!
