The Black Crowes made a stop in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Riverbend Music Center on August 3, 2021. Starting the night off, I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing the band Dirty Honey live for the very first time. WOW! These guys are the essence of Rock n’ Roll! The riffs from guitarist John Notto’s guitar paired with singer Marc Labell’s voice were infectious. When the band took the stage, the seats were still being filled but midway through the set, the area was packed with fans on their feet bouncing to the sounds of Dirty Honey.
After the first three songs, Dirty Honey tore into a cover of Aerosmith’s “Last Child” which was great! Dirty Honey rocked the crowd, moving around the stage constantly and feeding the fans a dose of amazing Rock n’ Roll. This is a band you want to see live!! You will not be disappointed!
The Black Crowes took the stage around 9 pm with nearly a full venue! Fans were happy to be out and at a concert! The weather was perfect for the Southern sounds of The Black Crowes. The stage looked great, a bar, a jukebox, elements that made it seem like a small club in this giant venue. When the lights dimmed, you could see several people coming out and sitting at the bar having a drink, one stands and goes to the jukebox and picks a song. Then we see the lights come on and the band members emerge, the entire time Chris Robinson was sitting in front of the drums hidden by a Black Crowes umbrella. The Crowes kicked things off with a bang and tore through some fan favorites like “Twice as Hard” and “Jealous Again”. The sounds of the background singers, guitars, drums, and keyboards all worked magic with Chris Robinsons’s voice. As a fan of the Crowes this was an exciting moment for me, hearing them and seeing them after lockdown gave me a sense of freedom and excitement again, I think many in the crowd would agree. After all these years the Crowes are still kicking ass and making everyone cheer for more!
