BrokenRail – BrokenRail EP review
Review written by: Cathy Moore
Alabama knows how to produce great rock bands. Following in the footsteps of rock giants like Godsmack, Avenged Sevenfold, Hinder, and Shinedown relative newcomers BrokenRail are hoping to become the next big thing out of ‘Bama. Their self-titled EP, which will be released November 25, is definitely a step in the right direction.
The band, consisting of Alex Hilton (drums), Nelson Rezek (guitar), Blake Clawson (vocals), and Dick Black (bass) have been working on a full-length LP release since 2013, but decided to release an EP to anxious fans. The EP has only three songs, but they are all three driving, fist-pumping, hard-rock songs that come from relatable life experiences – asking for help in Save Me, finding strength to overcome in Walk Again, and realizing when you’ve finally had enough in Memory. As Blake puts it, “Great rock comes from strong emotion. People can tell when it’s real, something you’ve actually been through yourself. If you want lies, you won’t find them here.”
Working endlessly to get their music heard worldwide, BrokenRail’s music has been featured on ESPN, NBC Sports, and, most recently, Tony Hawk’s RIDE Channel. The band was also nominated in their home state in 2016 for the Alabama Music Awards “Rock Artist of the Year”. If their full-length LP has more powerful and genuine rock tunes like what they have on the EP, BrokenRail will be achieving worldwide recognition in no time.
