For more than 20 years the Vans Warped Tour has been rocking the world and giving millions of fans pure live music bliss. It is the largest traveling music festival in the United States, and it is the longest running touring music festival in North America. This year marks the 22nd installment of the massive music festival, and over 60 bands will be uniting hordes of fans through the love of live music.
The lineup this year includes an awesome array of acts primarily from the punk and metal genres. The big headliners for the 2017 Warped Tour include Neck Deep, Attila, Bowling For Soup, CKY, Andy Black, and Gwar. There are several bands from my home state of Ohio that will be taking over one of the 7 Warped stages including Beartooth from Columbus, Hawthorne Heights from Dayton, and The Waves from Akron.
In addition to the artist from Warped Tour’s main punk and metal genres, there will also be a number of musicians from outside those genres at the festival this year. Dance Gavin Dance delivers intense, emo-tinged music; Streetlight Manifesto brings a cool brand of horn-laden ska; Watsky is a rap artist; Sammy Adams is known for his electronic rap/hip hop style; American Authors are a mainstream Alternative band; and Sonic Boom Six is known to combine different elements of all of the above.
Not only does the Warped Tour have the hottest lineup for the summer, but there are also a plethora of other elements that make this festival one of the absolute best. One of the most unique parts of the tour is the TEI workshop. A TEI workshop gives fans the opportunity to spend 40 minutes backstage in a small group conversation with some the artists playing on the Vans Warped Tour. Workshops range from instrument lessons to in depth conversations about touring, life hardships, creating music, and much more. Tickets for TEI workshops can be purchased in advance or at the TEI tents the day of the show.
Vans Warped Tour has always been big into philanthropy and encourages fans to get involved with several non-profit organizations before, during and after the tour. For example, fans can get a free early entry wristband just by bringing donations of three canned goods (cannot be dented or expired cans), a $5 donation, or a used cell phone to the Feed Our Children NOW! tent. The nonprofit organization Music Saves Lives offers a backstage wristband for the first 100 fans daily that redeem their Music Saves Lives Blood Donation Voucher at the Music Saves Lives tent. The Warped Eco Initiative aims to eventually ensure that Warped is a zero impact event on the environment.
The Warped Tour is even trying to attract fans of all ages by offering 1 free ticket to a parent age 28 and older who brings a child under the age of 16 who has a paid ticket.
Want to get hyped up before the show? Listen to the Warped Tour Mixtape on Pandora to hear songs from all the musicians playing this summer.
The 2017 Vans Warped Tour kicks off on June 16 In Seattle, WA and hits almost 40 other cities across the USA before wrapping up on August 6 in Pomona, CA. You don’t want to miss it! Find a show in a city near you and make sure you are part of the epic event.
