City of the Weak came through Corpus Christi, TX on April 15, 2018 and left quite an impression with everyone in attendance. This was my first time seeing them perform and I was very excited since I’ve read and heard they are great live. I was honored enough to get an interview with vocalist Stef with an F before the show in which we talked about touring and their future agenda. Most recently the band has released a cover of Incubus’ Pardon Me with their own style added in the version which is very pleasing and has been well received.
Once they took the makeshift stage, City of the Weak claimed it as their very own, taking no prisoners. Their sound is unique, but fits in with modern rock with a mix of punk rock grit underlyings. Their on stage attitude is very unapologetic, they know who they are, and they kick ass! The energy of the band is rapid and powerful. Throughout their entire set, I kept thinking, why is this band not bigger? They have the music, the stage presence, and the perseverence; but I think this is only temporary. I’m sure that it is only a matter of time before the rest of the world catches up.
Off stage, every member is approachable and honestly down to earth. You can tell they love what they do and they do it well. City of the Weak is a very unique band. Through constant touring and making their own path, they have created something quite wonderful and a pleasure to listen and watch. Make sure you catch the rest of the tour they are on and look out in the next coming months as they have some big surprises in store!
