The Veer Union Celebrates a Decade of Dynamic Rock with Decade 2: Rock and Acoustic

I became a fan of The Veer Union when I heard the song “Seasons” from their debut album Against the Grain almost 10 years ago. They had such a cool vibe delivering impassioned lyrics in both hard and heavy jams and soaring rock ballads. Then in 2012 came Divide the Blackened Sky. I loved every single song on that album. I listened to it over and over. I still know almost every word to every song. I thought it was brilliant. Over the years the Vancouver band released more great songs, played some intense live shows, and racked up seven Top 40 singles on the Billboard Rock Radio Charts.

This year The Veer Union is celebrating the 10^th anniversary of their first commercial album with the release of Decade 2: Rock and Acoustic. It is a new 18-song collection that includes brand new tunes, acoustic versions, and some great covers. It’s an awesome collection of music from The Veer Union. The album will be available everywhere on August 31st through Rock Shop Entertainment. You can pre-order the album on iTunes here.

Decade 2 starts off with “Living Not Alive”, which has an entrancing rhythm and cool musical elements (EDM, echoes, etc.) that made me eager to experience the rest of the collection. There wasn’t a disappointing moment on the entire album. The last song of the electric portion was a cover of the 1989 Faith No More song “Epic.” I was never a huge fan of this song, but The Veer Union has changed my mind with their version.

To commemorate the one-year anniversary of Chester Bennington’s death (he died on July 20, 2017), The Veer Union recently paid tribute to the late Linkin Park vocalist with an amazing acoustic cover of “Numb”. The video has more than 115,000 views on YouTube and almost 500,000 views on Facebook. The band’s version of “Numb” kicks off the acoustic portion of the Decade 2 album and is a touching tribute to an incredibly talented musician.

The Veer Union will be supporting the release of Decade 2: Rock and Acoustic on the “Resurrection Tour” starting August 30th with Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Tantric and Shallow Side. They will then segue into headlining dates in September and October.
