Review of JESUS PIECE new album “Only Self”! Check it out!

Review by Rene Botello

In just a few short years, JESUS PIECE has climb to the top of the mound of metallic hardcore music.  Releasing their new album ONLY SELF Aug 24 on Southern Lord, they aim to crush listeners one song at a time.

Their newest single continues punishing fans with its lead heavy riffs, roaring bass, and kick to face drumming.  Adding to the mix is the rage filled growls giving way to emotional release.  Known for their live stage presence, it is rare to capture such pure emotion on a record, but somehow Jesus Piece have accomplished this in spades.

Their hard work ethic and constant touring has made them an act that has caught fire and helping blaze the way forward to music that is not afraid to deliver physical and thought provoking blows.  While listening to each song, I can see easily why fans are able to lose themselves in the music and break free in the pit.  The circle pit is the outlet and ONLY SELF is the soundtrack to that escape.

To broaden the listeners experience, the song I gives you a chance to catch your breath in the form of a soundscape trance inducing venture.  Followed by II, Jesus Piece pushes themselves in a doom heavy direction; letting fans know that they are capable of more than just pummeling your senses.

As a whole, Jesus Piece have an epic release which I hope to catch live in the near future.  I just hope that I will be prepared, which at this point I’m not sure anyone can be.
