Year of the Locust has been working overtime playing a ton of shows this year with artists such as Puddle of Mudd, Tantric, Saliva, Sons of Texas, Saving Abel, Devour the Day, Palisades, Starset, and currently with Tesla. I’ve been lucky enough to see the guys play several times in the past and take photos of their performances. Tonight’s show was the largest venue I’ve seen Year of the Locust (YOTL) perform in, The Old National Center in Indianapolis.
I sat down before the show with Scot McGiveron (vocals), Fred Serrell (bass), Tyler Hensley “The Outlaw” (guitar), and Cody Hyde “Chevy” (guitar) from YOTL (Dusty Winterrowd who plays drums was not available) and talked about new music, their tour bus, touring with Tesla, and what’s new with band. The guys from YOTL hopped on the enormous stage at the Old National Center and immediately got everyone out of their seats! Scot McGiveron worked the stage putting his heart and soul into each word he sang. The band started their set with “Sunrise“, a song about a breakup that, like in many of the bands songs, Scot shows a ton of emotion on. The next song up “Broken Now” had a slower tempo but that didn’t stop the band from taking the opportunity to move around every inch of the stage. Bassist Fred Serrell and guitarist Tyler Hensley took the opportunity to move around and show off their skills to fans while guitarist Cody Hyde “Chevy” moved forward to play a few solos during the set. “Moving On” was the third song of the night which sounded great and took the audience on an emotional ride from faster tempo to slower and then back up. Overall the band did a great job entertaining fans in Indianapolis, and I can’t wait to catch them perform again!
