Hot sun and sick beats ushered in the evening hours of Day 1 of the Bunbury Music Festival in Cincinnati when Machine Gun Kelly stormed the Sawyer Point Stage. Bringing his unique mix of hard-core rap and rap-rock blending with pop tones, Machine Gun Kelly’s set was probably one of the most varied of the festival.
The self-proclaimed “Rap Devil”’s fluid transitions from his more lyrically intense hits like “Bad Motherfucker” and “Til I Die” flowed into emotional songs like “Habits.” Overall, this was not one of the most family-friendly sets Bunbury weekend (keep the headphones on those kids); it was strictly a high-energy party. Flames and skulls danced behind him on the back screen as he delivered his hits. He swung his silver viper-styled mic stand to the backbeat between stomping around stage. “Can’t STOP” he yelled during “Loco,” and the crowd ate up the antics with screams.
Before he left the stage, MGK announced to his beloved “Nasti Nati” his tour kicking off the following day in Detroit, Michigan. The Hotel Diablo World Tour is on the road now, making stops around the nation before heading overseas. This tour is going global with dates in Indonesia, Japan and Europe before wrapping up in September.
