DOPE Blood Money Review

Fans have waited seven long years for new music from Dope. The wait will soon be over as the band’s much anticipated sixth studio album, Blood Money, Part 1, hits the market on October 28th. Fans will not be disappointed.

From the 10 second intro, Confessions of a Felon, to the bonus track, Violet, Dope delivers the heavy metal industrial sound with the driving guitar riffs, pounding drums, and dark lyrics covering typical Dope themes of sex, drugs, and violence that fans will fondly recognize and remember.

The first two main tracks, the title track and Shoulda Known Better, set the stage for high-energy head banging throughout the CD. Tracks like Hold On and A New Low are a bit more radio friendly though still vigorous. We catch a glimpse of the emotional side of Edsel’s harsh and powerful vocals on tunes like Numb and Razorblade Butterfly, but the band ultimately never deviates from the hard and aggressive sounds that have made Dope so…dope.

Dope is currently on their Revolver Magazine sponsored “Die Mother Fucker Die” Reunion Tour, featuring support from the bands Flaw and Motograter. The Dope reunion tour features the classic line up of Edsel Dope, Acey Slade, Virus, & Racci Shay. The U.S. portion of the tour goes until October 30th with the final show at the legendary Whiskey A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. From there the band will play 5 shows in Russia and end their tour in London
