Bunbury Music Festival 2017 – Charlie Hirsch Review
written by Megan Randall
Charlie Hirsch played to a sizeable crowd despite the hot temperatures Saturday, June 3rd, at Bunbury Music Festival. Playing his singer-songwriter style tunes on the River Stage, his prior quiet stage presence commanded the attention of the crowd as he played his soulful set. Hints of country influence could be heard as a supporting guitar twanged or within the drawl of the lyrics, but buoyant numbers like “Wouldn’t Matter Anyways” proved Hirsch has his Alt Rock chops.
Excitement hit the audience when he started belting out “Beaten Up and Broken Down.” A ballad, the song reminds listeners of newer Aaron Lewis songs (albeit still lighter) or even throwing back to Default’s heyday tunes.
Hirsch is currently working on a new album, with a release date promised in the next several weeks.
