Lullwater ready to unleash the magic of Voodoo to the world

Apparently I have been living under a rock because somehow I have missed the presence of the amazing band Lullwater. Formed in 2007 in Athens, GA, Lullwater was born from the indelible mark that the godfathers of grunge left on music. The convergence of this inspiration, mixed with a healthy helping of swagger, defines this critically acclaimed alternative rock band.

Over the past decade, Lullwater has produced three albums, toured with major artists including Theory of a Deadman, Candlebox, Butcher Babies, and Flyleaf, and received high praise from one of my ultimate favorite bands Blacktop Mojo. On February 22, Lullwater releases album number 4 – an EP called Voodoo – which may be their best work to date.

Voodoo was recorded at the end of 2017 in New Orleans at Marigny Studios by Swedish producer and engineer Jakob Herrmann, co-produced/engineered by Justin Davis, and mixed by Jakob Herrmann at Top Floor Studios, and this record promises an even bigger, more explosive sound that will shake you to your core.

The first of 11 songs on the EP is “Curtain Call” and it starts with a crescendoing introduction…wailing guitars, beating drums, and finally the vocals crash in with an edge of grunge and the growl of hard rock. It’s the perfect way to kick off the album and it makes listeners hungry to hear more. “Similar Skin” is one of my favorite tracks because it has that sassy Southern rock groove that makes you want to dance. “Buzzards” is more of a pure hard rock tune, and the final track “Suffer Not” shows a little softer and more vulnerable side of the band. The entire album is full of song after song that showcases the musicality this band has to offer.

Lullwater recently released the official music video for their single “Empty Chamber”, which is one of the more mainstream songs on the album – which is not a criticism. I think the song will appeal to a wide variety of listeners and the video gives everyone a look at these Southern rockers and their style (such as that fantastic hot pink bass!).

For more than a decade, alt rockers Lullwater have been blazing their way to the top of the industry thanks to their gritty, Southern-infused sound and straight-up, raw performances. Voodoo will catapult them to new heights. Make sure you catch Lullwater live when they are on tour in February and March with Sevendust,Tremonti, Cane Hill, and Kirra
