Interview with Jenny Teator

Alice Rogers: For your latest release talk about how the song came about, does it have a backstory?
Jenny Teator: This song has no backstory really, we just really wanted to write something with a badass vibe that also had a crowd participation aspect of it. There’s no deep meaning to it, we wanted to create a fictional story of a girl who was raised by the devil (the bad guy) who turned out to be a sultry, man teasing, people-pleasing devil blooded woman in disguise.
AR: What drew you into becoming a musician?
Jenny Teator: I always loved to sing, that came first. Then once I started learning how to play guitar and write songs it just stole my heart. That passion never faded as I continued to do it unlike other things that had faded. So it only made sense to pursue this, it never gets old.
AR: Who would be your main five musical influences?
Jenny Teator: Grace Potter, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Dorothy, James Brown, Amy Winehouse
AR: Who would you love to collaborate with on a song? Would you consider approaching them to do so?
Jenny Teator: Grace Potter. I actually just met her for the first time two days ago! I would absolutely consider approaching her if the opportunity arose.
AR: Describe your overall musical sound.
Jenny Teator: Its a mixture honestly. The overall vibe is rock with a modern production and edge. Some would say blues/rock, some would say rock/pop… it’s hard to put ONE genre on it because I have multiple influences going into it but the vocal is what ties it all together making it… Jenny Teator 🙂
What’s the best thing about being a musician?
Jenny Teator: Creating music that evokes an emotional response in a stranger is the best feeling, knowing you did that with your music is priceless.
AR: Do you as a band or group hang out with each other at times, like outside of practice, performing, etc?
Jenny Teator: ALL the time haha it helps that I have my best friends as my band mates. 🙂
AR: Best Beatles song of all time?
Jenny Teator: Damn thats hard… I would have to say “Come Together”
AR: If you weren’t a musician, what other professions might you have taken on?
Jenny Teator: Probably something in fitness or health in some way. I loved studying human behavior when I was in school.
AR: If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions or a music festival for any one record in history, which would you choose to go back to?
Jenny Teator: If I could go to a music festival I would probably go to Live Aid in 1985 to see Queen!!!
